Friendly, helpful staff and the portions seemed to be good size but... 1. Food was far from authentic...Ameri-Mex maybe 2. Overpriced

This place was exactly what I was looking for! I wanted to go out to eat where locals would go and not pay $20 a plate per person. Inside and outside seating No more than 1 mile from downtown Coeur d'Alene Crispy warm chips and good salsa Food came out fast, friendly staff, good prices (spent $44 total on two fried bean burritos, four taquitos, enchilada style burrito, three cheese enchiladas with beans and rice, two beers, chips and salsa!) Thank you from California!

I had to order and deliver food in a rush heading up 4th so I chose MFF. I ordered without looking at a menu and chose combo burrito and nachos. Picked up the food at their convenient pick up window. The lady was great as she gave me dog biscuits for my kooky cockers. The bill was $25 and change without a beverage. The nachos had sufficient toppings and the burrito was plenty cheesy. Overall I guess a good plate of nachos may be worth $12-$15 but overall I feel the food is a bit overpriced. This is a local business so I reckon their pricing is an indicator of what it takes to keep a small business running in times of hope and change. It beats Taco Bell but I will not be able to frequent as there are many restaurant options with a better perceived value.

Absolutely delicious! And hands down, the best breakfast burritos in town! Clean and friendly!

Best breakfast burritos in town; go for the chili Colorado! I've been a regular here for over 20 years and always enjoy the food. Prices have risen a little, yes, but still cheaper than the typical sit-down restaurant...and the portions are bigger here! Fast, friendly service too.

Dumpy and hot and small inside.Door going to restroom looks like it was at a jiffy lube covered in grease very gross. No waitress have to go to counter and place your order ,over priced very average food at best $$$$ for what you get fountain drink $3.00 . Go to another for sit down dinner.

This WAS a great local Mexican food joint in Midtown area of Coeur d'Alene. What it is now is expensive, so-so service, crappy food, and no local vibe. The owner has recently talked some crap about other local businesses, that has turned me off of this once cool place. The Midtown area is growing and getting a cool local setting, but unfortunately MFF is lagging and the price you pay for food is not worth the quality you get. Bummed to give a low score to a once awesome local place.

I stopped to get my wheels aligned at a shop next door and asked where I could get some breakfast. He told me about this place and I was pleasantly surprised. For breakfast, they do a build your own burrito. Yum!

The best place to get mexican food in CDA. Ignore all the rest. This place is great. The people who own it care a lot about their customers and their employees! Super friendly service. I love the chicken burritos with the verde salsa on it. Huge portions. Seating is limited, but you can sit outside. Great place to go in the summer! They have specials all the time, such as Taco Tuesdays. They are closed Saturday and Sunday, bummer...

I have only ever had chicken enchiladas from the Mexican Food Factory and they have been 'okay', every time. The flavors definitely scream 'Americanized', as far as Mexican food goes, but that isn't what stops me from giving this restaurant more stars. This place is dirty, rundown and over priced. It feels like no cares, like it lacks heart and soul. I would like to see the actual restaurant itself, be cleaned up and some love be put into the place. If that happened, I would be inclined to eat here on a more regular basis.

First time here and had the chicken burrito and thought it was really fresh. Lots of lettuce with fresh hand picked chicken. Will have to try the breakfast burrito next!

May be the best bean burrito I've ever had but their prices are too high. I also love their rolled tacos w/ guacamole but again waaay too expensive. I would eat here so much more often if their prices were a little more reasonable.

True North Idaho Mexican Food! I've been wanting to try this place for sometime now and it was a let down for me. The burritos were not great. I went for the chicken and it looked and tasted like canned Costco chicken with shredded cheddar cheese and chopped iceberg lettuce. The staff was very nice and the shop was quaint. Sounds like you need to have the Chili Colorado but I doubt Ill be back to try it.

I really like this little place. You can see them preparing the food. The flavors are good and the food comes fast. The patio is nice in the summertime. Cool midtown CDA location.

The food at Mexican Food Factory is always delicious when we have the chance to actually dine there. The last 4 times we have tried to go they have been closed at normal week day hours. Their website also says they are open and we will drive all the way downtown and they will be closed! The hours are hit and miss but the food is always excellent.

This is a GREAT place for Chili Colorado... The best burrito in town, whether it is Breakfast or Lunch, you get friendly service and a smile from the staff. The business has been around for years and they KNOW good food. Thank you for your great service.

Although it may not be the most authentic Mexican Food Factory does justice to quick Hispanic food. It's essentially your favorite taco truck on crack.

Not impressed at all. The salsa boring, the beans soupy and lacking flavor. I had a chicken enchilada and chicken burrito. All I can say is that it was edible. I've had much better salsa in other places along with beans in the North West. Coming from Southern California I've had great Mexican food. This place just made me miss one of favorites, Miguel's in coronado. Still looking for a good place in this area.

I ordered the veggie burrito with chicken and a negra modelo. Chicken was bland and very watery. Rest of the burrito was ok. I guess when you live in California you're just used to better than average Mexican food but i dont know why this place has such rave reviews

The bean, cheese and rice burritos are amazing and so is the salsa! The staff members are always nice without faking it and I appreciate the low-key atmosphere.

I am a fan of MFF, and have been a regular customer since 1989 when Dan's father ran the place. Dan has done a good job, but the last time I went in the salsa tasted watered down. The only reason I go there is for the salsa, it is off the hook! Anyone can make beans and rice and all the rest, but that salsa...mmmmmmmmm! So, I was a bit disappointed. Hope this isn't a trend.

The best Mexican food I've ever had outside of California, and much better than most Mexican food I've had in California. It is a small hole-in-the-wall, family-run place, with a drive thru and counter ordering. The ingredients they use are super good quality, simple, and delicious. The tortillas are so fresh that they leave flour on your fingers. The salsa is also very good--not too hot that it masks the taste of the food, but just right. I dream about their rice and bean burritos. Since it is family run, the hours do sometimes vary, and they've been both unexpectedly closed and unexpectedly open.

Tacos include your choice of spicy ground beef, chicken or the craveworthy shredded beef, with the meat itself going for a dip in the deep fryer whilst tucked inside a gently crisped corn tortilla, then topped with finely shredded cheddar, icy cold thin strips of lettuce and topped with tomato chunks. The enchiladas and tamales are unimpeachable, smothered in twangy Colorado sauce and a hot lava flow of melted cheese. Burritos are a specialty here, with fifteen available options including nearly every combination of beans, meat, cheese, and rice possible. Personally, I have a fetish for the Shredded Beef and Cheese Burrito, which is the only burrito on the menu to hit the hot oil before being served, an act which creates a cosmic fusion between the meat and cheese, causing glazed eyeballs and burrito nirvana to overcome this particular diner. The Chili Rellanos are listed on the menu as a seasonal item, but I don't recall ever having a problem ordering the exquisite red-sauce covered, pan-fried, omelettey egg and spicy green pepper treats. Combination platters are served with fluffy seasoned rice and homemade refried beans, which are sinfully lardy and fresh daily. Read the full review: getoutnorthidaho.blogspo…

Simple and fresh food with great friendly service. Inside seating is limited but during good weather there is a lot of tables outside. The more I stop here the more I like this place. Everything is noticeably fresh and the portions are such you shouldn't go away hungry. Daily specials are dirt cheap. Only downside is they are not open on the weekend, so you need to get your fix during the week.

So good! Two kids and a husband...we all loved it! We had taco, burrito and tamales; all were tasty! Love the salsa!

not sure what all the rave was about but I noticed most of the reviews are from a much earlier year. Maybe we just went on a really bad day (Monday night). We had the fish tacos and the shredded beef tacos. The fish tasted like breaded frozen costco fish and were pretty dry. The creamy sauce made them edible but I would definitely not order them again. Standard costco corn tortillas- not the fresh small corn tortillas I have come to expect of authentic Mexican food. Husband had the shredded beef tacos. He said it was one of his most disappointing meals of all time. The spice level was appropriate for our two year old but not our palates. The beans were good (best part of the meal) but the rice left a lot to be desired. Shredded American cheese was over everything (how is that authentic?). Give me some queso fresco and I'll be happy :) Worst part of the whole thing was the price...$9 for each entree! I would expect that price for tacos from one of the bigger 'cantina' style places but not a hole in the wall place with lousy food. The taco trucks on Government and Best are so so so much better! Ya, less ambiance, but given a choice, I'll take taste over ambiance any day for Mexican.

Best nachos!!! We got there at 2:59pm and quickly realized they close at 3:00pm during their Winter hours. We were asked to stay when we tried to leave and felt they truly appreciated our business (despite being late). Great food & great customer service!

Never disappoints! Best authentic Mexican food in Coeur d'Alene by far! Don't let the "Hole in the wall" appearance fool you, they have yummy food!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
